Looking for an authentic, unique, and off-the-beaten track guesthouse in Vang Vieng? When our volunteer house is not completely occupied, we allow travelers to stay at our non-profit homestay. We work to support education and to provide travelers with a genuine Lao experience! Located in the tiny village of Phonpeng, 5 minutes’ walk from the tourist center, we offer a stay in a village away from the tourist crowd.
When staying at our FAIRSTAY you support our teaching and building projects in Lao schools. As a fair stay guest, you are more than welcome to visit our construction sites and schools. If our team has time, we can give you a tour and show you the schools we built and where we teach. More information is in our information brochure that you receive after your booking.
** A real immersion environment: We are a small, cozy homestay in a traditional Lao house. We can only house 8 people spread over 5 rooms. This creates a true family feeling, a feeling very important in Lao society. You are away from the tourist path. You live in the middle of the Lao society, with all the benefits but also the difficulties the local community can face daily.
** meals: 25.000 Kip a meal (not included in your room booking): We provide the possibility to eat at our homestay. We encourage this. In Laos, we use the following proverb: “eating alone is not delicious”. This is also the best way to learn about Laos and make new friends. We provide the possibility for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Breakfast is usually western orientated; lunch and supper are typical Lao dishes prepared by our lovely cook.

Volunteer in Laos Tasks & Roles
Volunteering is not automatically included in your stay. We do not allow random guests to just visit the schools, because these schools are not tourist attractions. Also, the children do not pay attention in class if we bring guests with us. The well-being of the children is the most important factor for us.
Volunteer in Laos with LLL, Laos’s most trusted organization volunteer, LLL is also approved as INGO by the local authorities. Volunteers are based in the breathaking surroundings of Vang Vieng between Vientiane and Luang Prabang. You can choose from different volunteer projects. All projects are initiated and funded by LLL without any intermediate organization or provider being involved. Prepare yourself for a genuine non-profit experience with an amazing positive impact.
When you apply to Volunteer in Laos, you can choose which project you prefer. All tasks are within the same location, it is a “team” in which you as a volunteer are part to accomplish something great. Therefore, we hope that you will be flexible to achieve this goal.

We have double, twin, single, and shared (max 2) rooms available. Your type of room depends on availability. You can send us a request though.
Upon approval, you will receive an information brochure from us with all relevant information, maps, pictures and even a Lao description in case you need local help.
What else?
Guests and volunteers agree to follow the laws, the policies of the community in which they volunteer, and/or the rules of the Fairstay, failure to do so will result in the termination of your stay and forfeiture of all accommodation fees.
We recommend that when traveling that you have your own travel insurance cover in place.
