Thai Animal Sanctuary

Project Description

Thai Animal Sanctuary works to provide a lifeline to animals in distress. We take in sick and injured animals, provide medical attention and try to find them new homes. We have a sanctuary with around 50 animals, mostly dogs who live with us permanently or are waiting to be adopted. We conduct regular vaccination and sterilisation programmes to humanely control population numbers. We are always in desperate need of volunteers on the ground and abroad.

Volunteer Information

We are always in great need of volunteers, especially those with veterinary experience, vet nurses and qualified vets. Volunteering during one of our sterilisation projects means lots of hands on work assisting vets- great for those going into a veterinary or medical career, but open to anyone. All the dogs need grooming- bathing for skin allergies, de-ticking,etc. as well as socialising and training. We get on average 3 new patients a day and need all the help we can get. There is lots of dog walking to do, as well as cleaning of the sanctuary.
Volunteers should note that conditions at the sanctuary are very basic. We also have disabled dogs that use wheelchairs and lead happy lives. Please consider whether you feel comfortable with this.

It is free to volunteer with us, and we can provide free vegetarian meals in the local school. There is also sometimes free accommodation available, but priority for this is given to volunteer vets.
