Project Description

Life and Hope Association (LHA) is a non-profit organization based in the Buddhist temple of Wat Damnak in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is conveniently located just 200m from the city center and 7km from the famous Angkor Wat temples. LHA works to alleviate poverty through education for the most vulnerable Cambodian people, especially women and children. Currently it runs six projects:

  1. Hotel de la Paix/LHA Sewing School;
  2. Foreign Language School;
  3. Program Advancing Girls’ Education (PAGE);
  4. Angkor Thom Junior High School;
  5. Children’s Development Village (orphanage);
  6. Food for Education project.

Volunteer Information

There are always ways in which volunteers can contribute to our work. The activities of our previous volunteers included teaching English, helping in the office, designing a new website, organizing activities for the kids and sharing tailoring/embroidery skills at the sewing school to name just a few.

The advantages of volunteering at LHA include: an opportunity to contribute to community development and learn about Buddhist culture, young and friendly staff, openness to new initiatives and approaches, central location and proximity to Angkor Wat temples, safe and peaceful environment, cheap living, and no participation fee to pay!
