We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to give something back regardless of age or disability. Our passion is linking volunteers with organizations around the Africa.
Volunteer Information
Volunteering is one of the most fulfilling experiences in the world and can help you whilst you are helping others. Whether you are looking for new direction, experience, fulfillment, new friends, or a brighter future, volunteering will open those doors for you.
No matter your age, gender, skills or experience – you can be a useful asset to someone in need. We are constantly looking for people to help build their capacity and achieve their goals. Whether you can offer 3 hours a week or 3 days, your time will be appreciated and felt.
We are always in need of volunteers to come over to Africa to help our partner NGOs that run rural development projects with the aim of poverty alleviation. There is a constant need for volunteers and no matter what your skills you will be able to fit in somewhere and apply yourself to help. The most urgent areas of need include:
Field workers / social work /social care/ Project supervisor / managers /accountants/ Teachers / Youth workers /trainee teachers
Nurses / medical students /opticians/ Fundraisers / grant researcher /proposal writing/ Eco tourism development /environmental protection / conservation
Honey sales / bee keeping /marketing / sales training
Administration / resource management / business training
Agriculture / animal husbandry /erosion control/Waste management

Additional Information
We intend to list affordable low-cost and free volunteer placements. Our programs range from USD$50 per week – USD$150 Per week. Including Accommodation, 3 meals a day and all ground support. We ask usually ask volunteers to arrange with the host project the costs for airport pickup, because these costs vary from project destination to another.
Our Volunteer Abroad Africa Program is an immersion program customized for individual travelers, students, professionals, families, groups, or anyone with the desire to serve in Africa. The timetable you travel, your village destination, and the projects you may be involved with are all geared to your skills and interests, and the villages’ needs.
If you are interested in participating in our Volunteer Abroad Africa Program, write to us and we will work with you to identify your best placement options in Africa. There is no obligation or fee to apply.
Because it is an immersion experience, days in the villages allow for a variety of opportunities. And whether you work in a clinic, school, or orphan home, participate in building or agricultural projects, or simply assist in the day-to-day tasks.
HDV works closely with each volunteer to ensure comprehensive preparation, including both an understanding of the people with whom you will be working, and all considerations necessary for travel overseas.
